Q. What is the Metro Detroit Chapter of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE)?
A. The Metro Detroit Chapter of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) is an organization of primarily African-American law enforcement CEOs, Command- level and Mid-level officers who are committed to improving the overall quality of law enforcement service. We seek to create meaningful partnerships with the communities, schools, and businesses that serve the Metropolitan Detroit region.
Q. What
are the advantages of joining NOBLE?
A. A person who successfully becomes a NOBLE member will join a professional law enforcement organization of men and women throughout the United States and the Caribbean. NOBLE is an organization that serves to improve the communities that they are in and seeks to build character and leadership in their members.
NOBLE consists of 47 chapters in six regions throughout the United States and one chapter in the Caribbean.
Q. I am a not a Law Enforcement Executive can I join NOBLE?
A. Categories of membership are based upon whether or not an individual is a sworn law enforcement official and the rank of the individual at the time of application, however an individual's membership class may change due to promotion or job reclassification. Individuals and businesses who subscribe to our values, goals, mission and beliefs may apply for NOBLE membership.
Q.Is
there a cost to join NOBLE?
A. Yes, there are yearly national dues and yearly local chapter dues:
Regular - Law enforcement individuals with the rank of Lieutenant or above and federal government law enforcement individuals with the grade of GS-13 and above; Annual National Dues: $150
Associate - Law
enforcement individuals below the rank of Lieutenant, criminal justice
educators, and federal government law enforcement individuals with a grade
below GS-13; Annual National Dues: $100
Supporting - Security officers, civilian employees, community supporters and other non-sworn individuals interested in furthering the goals of NOBLE; Annual National Dues: $55
Sustaining
-Corporations, organizations or individuals interested in furthering the goals
of NOBLE; Annual National Dues: $525
There is a $35.00 local chapter fee for all members
Q. Must I be a member of the national organization before becoming a member of the local chapter?
A. All members of the chapter must be members of the national organization before joining the local chapter. Applications for the national and local chapter can be found on our website at www.nobledetroit.org
Q.How much my time is
required in NOBLE?
A. Chapter members typically attend monthly meetings, participate in committee assignments and travel to training conferences and seminars. Beyond these obligations the time commitment that one chooses to invest in the organization is at their own discretion. The majority of members enjoy the comradeship and they are eager to participate in chapter functions, fellowship with the NOBLE members and become officers and accept committee assignments. Clearly, members will get out of NOBLE as much as they invest.
